Starting May 2025, all CYFOX Cloud users (cloud.cyfox.com) will be required to enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to help keep their accounts secure.

This article explains setting up and using 2FA with your CYFOX Cloud account.

If you need help at any point, our support team is here to help—reach out to us at [email protected].

Note: 2FA is available and required only for CYFOX Cloud accounts. It is not supported for on-premise deployments.

Activating 2FA

There’s nothing you need to do in advance. After the feature is launched, two-factor authentication (2FA) will automatically be enabled for your account the first time you log in to CYFOX Cloud.

What to expect

You’ll see a screen with a QR code when you log in. This QR code helps connect your CYFOX Cloud account with an authentication app on your phone.

To complete setup

  1. Open your authentication app on your mobile device.

  2. Scan the QR code displayed on the screen.

  3. Enter the 6-digit code from the app into CYFOX Cloud.

Supported authentication apps include:

  • Google Authenticator

  • Microsoft Authenticator

  • 1Password

  • Authy

  • Any other app that supports TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password)

Once scanned, your app will generate a 6-digit code you’ll use to complete the login process.

Logging in with 2FA

Once 2FA is set up, your future logins to CYFOX Cloud will be just as simple — with an added layer of protection.

Every time you sign in:

  1. Enter your email and password.

  2. You’ll then be asked for a 6-digit verification code.

  3. Open your authentication app on your phone.

  4. Enter the code displayed in the app.

  5. You’re in.

The code refreshes automatically every 30 seconds. If the code expires, just wait for the next one to appear.

Important: Ensure you can access your authentication app when signing in - especially if you’re using a new device or traveling.

Resetting 2FA

If a user loses access to their authentication app or gets a new device, a CYFOX Cloud admin can easily reset their 2FA.

How to reset 2FA for a user:

  1. Sign in to CYFOX Cloud with your admin account.

  2. Go to Users.

  3. Select the relevant user.

  4. Click Reset 2FA.

Once reset, users will be asked to set up 2FA again the next time they sign in —just like their first login.

What if an admin account needs help?

If an admin user loses access to their 2FA and can’t sign in, please contact CYFOX Support directly.

We’ll help you regain access as quickly as possible.
