In our ongoing commitment to flexibility and customer-centric solutions, CYFOX is introducing a Pay-As-You-Go model. This model allows businesses to pay only for what they use, making it easier to manage costs and scale operations based on actual requirements. This guide will help you navigate the setup, management, and benefits of this new offering.

Getting Started

To begin using the Pay-As-You-Go model, the targeted client must first be registered as a customer in the CYFOX Cloud (cloud.cyfox.com) under their managed account, referred to as the 'parent.'

To begin using the Pay-As-You-Go model, the targeted client must first be registered as a customer in the CYFOX Cloud (cloud.cyfox.com) under their managed account, referred to as the 'parent.'

For detailed instructions on how to create a new account, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected].

Configuring Your Plan (& Activation)

Once registered, the account with access to the management console (referred to as the "parent") can allocate licenses to the end client. This process applies to all plans, including both yearly and Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) models.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Log In to CYFOX Cloud

Start by connecting to your MSP or Reseller account at cloud.cyfox.com.

  2. Access the Companies Page

Go to the Companies page. To view this page, make sure you are logged in as the root user (super admin) or have sales permissions through the admin or sales roles.

  3. Select Your Client
On the Companies page, you'll see a list of all clients associated with your parent account. If you're a reseller, you’ll have visibility over two levels—MSSPs and Clients. Switch to the Client tab to proceed.

  4. Purchase Licenses
Choose a client from the list and click Buy License. Keep in mind that you cannot upgrade from a fixed-price yearly plan to PAYG until the yearly plan has ended.

  5. Choose Cloud Licensing
Select the Cloud option in the license view. Currently, the PAYG option is available only for cloud-based clients.

  6. Select PAYG
Choose Pay-As-You-Go as your preferred model. Pricing details will appear automatically.

When selecting the PAYG option, the user will be presented with a list of three choices, from which only one can be selected:

    1. SOCaaS: This option enables the client to receive SOC as a Service (SOCaaS) from CYFOX’s team. By selecting this option, an additional charge will apply for each endpoint. For example:

      (Regular agent fee: $6 + SOC Service: $3) *

      Number of active agents (e.g. 6) =

      Total cost ($54)

    2. Self-Managed: With this option, the client does not rely on CYFOX's SOC services, meaning no additional costs. From a security perspective, Self-Managed ensures that only the client has access to their environment, operating as a standalone server in the cloud. CYFOX cannot view or access any data related to this tenant.

    3. Self-SOC: With this option, the client does not rely on CYFOX's SOC services, meaning no additional costs. From a security perspective, Self-Managed ensures that only the client has access to their environment, operating as a standalone server in the cloud. CYFOX cannot view or access any data related to this tenant.

Though not directly tied to PAYG, understanding CYFOX’s licensing system can help you choose the PAYG model that’s perfectly tailored to your needs.

  7. Confirm and Activate
After reviewing the pricing, accept the terms. License keys and activation keys will be instantly generated and ready for installation.

Once activation and license keys are successfully generated, the client can proceed with the development of the Agents as per the usual process.

Usage & Billing

Our Usage-Based Subscription Billing Model offers a flexible approach while maintaining predictable monthly cycles. Here’s how it works:

  • Monthly Billing Cycle: Billing is always based on a monthly cycle from the 1st to the 1st of the following month.

  • Usage Trigger: If the client’s Agents use the service at any point during the month (i.e., connect to the system), they will be billed for the entire month. This ensures the client receives consistent billing, even with minimal usage.

  • No Usage, No Billing: If no usage occurs during the month (e.g., no Agents are connected), no charges will be applied for that billing period.

Example:

  • Scenario A: If an Agent connects to the system on October 5th, the client will be billed for the full month of October.

  • Scenario B: If the client does not use the service in November, no billing will occur for November.

This model ensures flexibility and cost-efficiency for clients, while maintaining a clear, predictable billing schedule.

Viewing Usage & Accessing the Dashboard

To ensure transparency, a" parent" (either Distributor or MSSP) can monitor their clients usage in real-time through the Usage Dashboard on CYFOX Cloud.

Using the dashboard, ,they can see the number of Agents connected and active during the billing cycle, track costs, and manage resources.

To view usage and access the dashboard, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you are logged in as a permitted user (as outlined above), then navigate to the Orders page.

  2. In the top-left corner, select the Pay-As-You-Go tab.

Filtering by Specific Months

By default, the dashboard will display data for the last month. You can change the view to any other month, by simply filtering billing information for a specific month:

  1. Use the Year/Month dropdown in the top-left corner to select the desired month.

  2. Alternatively, choose "All Months" to view billing data for the entire year. This option is located at the end of the dropdown menu.

Exporting Data

You can also export the billing information as a PDF or Excel file:

  1. In the same dropdown menu, select Export.

  2. The downloaded data will reflect the current filter (the chosen month or year)

  3. Choose your preferred file format (PDF or Excel) to download the data.

Canceling Plans

Plans can be canceled at any time by simply adjusting the customer’s license to inactive. Follow these steps:

  1. Access the Companies Page

Log in as a root user (super admin) or a user with sales permissions under the admin or sales roles. Navigate to the Companies page.

  2. Select Your Client

On the Companies page, you'll find a list of all clients linked to your parent account. If you're a reseller, you can view two levels: MSSPs and Clients. Switch to the "Client" tab to proceed.

  3. Go to the License View

Select a client from the list and click on "View License." In the license view, select "Cancel Plan."

Please note that canceling a plan will take effect from the beginning of the next month after the request is submitted. For example, if a plan is canceled on May 20th, the cancellation will be effective starting June 1st.
